A Memo to Melissa Brosch

Melissa loves Kelly Clarkson. I just read some stuff about Kelly Clarkson that bugs me. Melissa, Melissa, Melissa, this pop singer isn't all you think she is. Here are a few things:
1. She admits that all of her songs are basically personally untrue. She has never been in love and has never experienced the break-up struggles that she has been singing about lately.
2. She says, "I shouldn't be a mother at all, because I'd be horrible. I'm not willing to be that selfless. I'm not keen on marriage."
3. She also says that making a relationship work requires too much effort.

I thought I liked Kelly Clarkson, but it turns out that she is just a fake, self-centered sloth. Melissa, stop encouraging the young people of our church to admire this kind of person.

Eric! What are you trying to "spin" here? You are the equivalent of Jehovah's Witness when it comes to misinterpretation. I found the article that you were talking about. Lets get the quote ACCURATE. Here is my defence of my Kelly.
1. Kelly on Love: "I am very old-school, conservative in my thinking when it comes to relationships," she says. "Love is something you work at. It doesn't come easily. There are going to be bad days. You are going to have to work at loving someone when they are being an idiot."

She says that she has never said "I love you" because she values those wods so much. She is "old school/conservative" in the fact that she won't say those words flipently. I think that is a great message to kids who think they are in love every five seconds.
2. Kelly on kids: If you are going to throw Kelly out the window on this one, they you will have to throw me with her. I'm pretty sure I said this same exact thing last week. What's wrong with knowing your limitations? At least she's not out there looking for her baby's daddy in some club somewhere. She knows she's not ready. Let her just be honest.

3. Kelly on living in a patriarchal society: I've sold more than 15 million records worldwide, and still nobody listens to what I have to say. Because I'm 25 and a woman," she says.

"I am a good singer, so I can't possibly be a good writer," she continues. "Women can't possibly be good at two things. I haven't lost my temper about it. It only drives me more. If your thing is to bring me down, cool. I'll just work harder."

She is obviously very perceptive and tuned into what is really happening in this world. She is keen on the fact that the "man" (aka Eric Wakeling) is trying to hold her down. Well look out Wakebird. Kelly is going to make history!!!! And I will be cheering her on all the way!!!!

And what about this quote On refusing to sing her single “Never Again” on Idol Gives Back:

“My label wanted me to sing ‘Never Again.” And I was like, To promote yourself on a charity event is beyond crass. People are starving and dying and I’m up there singing some bitter pop song? And believe me, everyone wanted me to sing it. Because they are jaded and they have no soul. Imagine sitting in a room full of people totally against you. Can’t they hear themselves speaking? Capitalize on AIDS? Are you kidding? Insulting an entire nation of people? I just refused.”

She sounds legit to me Eric.

I don't like her nose ring.

You still haven't talked about how she is a poser faker who doesn't even sing about anything she has actually experienced.

I'm pretty confident she's the antichrist. Wouldn't you guess it, a young petite woman voted "America's Idol."

Where is the law that says you have to experience everything you sing about? I mean you preach about being kind to others all the time, but that is definitely not something you have ever experienced. :).

if you add up the numeric values for the letters in her name you get 1556, if you add 110 to that you get 1666 or Idol 666 - BEWARE!!!

Alex..omg, if you seriously have that much time to show how kelly's name is the devil's number we need to get you a life and fast...give me a call, I have a list of things you could for me!

Eric..I have meet Kelly about 4 times now,and carried full convos with her too. She is just the sweetest person in the world. If you don't like her fine, not everyone will, but stop with the whole "antichrist" (which is way over the top, do you even realize the magnitude of that word!?) "bad influnce in the Church" "singing about what you havn't expirienced isn't allowed" crap. You are just LOOKING for something to pick on..

She is one of the first celebs to not fall into the pressure of become stick thin to "fit in", she embraces her curves which should be an influence to all girls! She comes home to see here mamma and friends, while most forget about them. Most of all, she will talk to you like she has known you forever, she is a bubbly person and a sweetheart...oh and about her songs, she does co-write most of them. Post one of YOUR songs, with YOUR lyrics that YOU have expirienced and I want to hear YOU singing it...oh and for a cake topper, YOU write the music too. ;D

Go look in the mirror, pick on yourself, I am sure there are things you could change as well.

Anonymous - I'm sorry you got so upset. This was all totally tongue-in-cheek and I'm sorry you didn't understand that. I'm sure she is a great person.
She still admitted to not living the truth of her songs so I'm not sure what to believe.
