Falling Asleep While Praying

I loved this quote from a Dominican Catholic priest about falling asleep in prayer - something we all do and probably feel guilty about.

"The Lord doesn't mind," Goedert said. "If you're holding a newborn baby in your arms and it falls asleep, are you going to love it any less?"
Rev. Robert Goedert, a Dominican priest in Chicago

I think that's a beautiful thought? Agree? Disagree?

I thnk it is cool that we can fall asleep in God's embrace. I think God doesn't mind too much.

In college I told a friend that I felt guilty falling asleep while praying and she looked at me with confusion and said, "Thats my favorite thing to do! Its the best to fall asleep in God's presence with your heart focused on Him" I stopped feeling guilty.

I always feel so guilty in the morning though... like I wasn't so interested in talking with Him so I fell asleep.
Maybe it comes from Matthew 26 where the disciples kept falling asleep when Jesus was praying... especially vs. 40 & 41.
I don't know if that's it, but I ALWAYS feel like a total failure when I do that.
Maybe next time I'll think about that quote you mentioned...
