Best Sports Stories of 2007

1. The Anaheim Ducks win the Stanley Cup!! See my post here.

2. UCLA fires Karl Dorrel - read my request for his ousting on September 15 here.

3. The Angels sign Torii Hunter. We didn't get the big bat yet, but this will help.

4. Joey Chestnut beating Kobayashi in the Hot Dog eating contest. USA! USA! USA!

5. Stanford beating USC. They say this could possibly be the greatest upset of all time because of the implications for USC. I love when USC has implications.

6. The Comeback Season for Brett Favre - I can't help but love the guy, plus he was on my Fantasy Team this year.

7. The Patriots go 16-0. Wow! You love to hate them, but they are pretty amazing.

Sports Thoughts

1. Today is Opening Day for the Angels and all of Major League Baseball. The Mets and Cardinals opened yesterday with the Mets showing how they will be a strong team this year.

2. My Fantasy Baseball team has a bunch of injuries already. Jered Weaver, Chone Figgins, Mike Cameron, and Eric Gagne are down. I need Eric Gagne to be able to close this year.

3. I'm grieving the Bruins loss on Saturday. It was so frustrating to watch Florida drain about 8 three pointers in a row while the Bruins couldn't make a shot. When your All-American (Afflalo) has the worst first half of his career you aren't going to win a Final Four game. Two Final Fours in a row is pretty good and the Bruins are expected to be able to come back again next year even if Afflalo goes pro.

4. Kobe had 13 assists last night. That guy could be Steve Nash if he wanted to. He is just better than that. Kobe dominates Steve Nash.

5. I could normally care less about swimming, but Michael Phelps is Jordan/Tiger/Federer all rolled into one.

6. Nascar is just dumb.

P.S. I'm feeling mostly better. A little weak, but I'm going to work today. I'm leading worship tonight for College group. Hopefully I will feel strong still at 7:30pm.

UCLA FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

I love that the Bruins are going to the Final Four after their win today. It also doesn't hurt that the Trojans lost last night. I have UCLA beating UNC in the final. The dream is still alive.

Jason Krusiewicz and I are going to have to brawl. Jasen Ashdown doesn't care because he likes Wake Forest therefore hating Duke and UNC even though he is from Cary. All the Trojan fans at Calvary can stop acting like they care about basketball.

Coach Ben Howland and the UCLA Bruins face off against Howland's alma mater, Weber State, today in their opening game of the NCAA Tournament. I have picked UCLA to win the whole thing in both brackets I filled out. One was a bit of a joke where I have an all Pac 10 Final Four - UCLA, Stanford, Washington State and Oregon. My real finals have UCLA beating North Carolina in the championships!

Pre-Super Bowl Weigh-In

Alright, I weighed in this morning just for the experiment.
I weigh 172.8 pounds. Same as last week. Kind of bummed because I was really good this week and I thought it would be at least a pound lower.

I decided long ago that the diet won't exist for the Super Bowl Party I'm going to today. So we shall see what I weigh tomorrow morning after a day of gluttony.

Kobe Suspension

This whole Kobe suspension is making me bad. Read story here. It's ridiculous. All he did was shoot the ball and then go to jump again after Manu blocked it. Just because Manu slammed his face into Kobe's hand doesn't mean that Kobe should be suspended for a game. It wasn't even called a foul in the game. Then Stu Jackson's comments were idiotic. He acts like Kobe did it on purpose. I don't know why this makes me so fired up, but it's an injustice and I hate that.

Am I going to have to get my "Free Kobe" shirts out again???
