Pro-Life and Pro-Obama?

In no way am I saying I agree with everything in this post, but I do resonate with it somehow. It's by Francis Schaeffer's son, Frank. It's called Why I Am Pro-Life and Pro-Obama.

I don't know if I could actually vote for him, but he is a lot more intriguing than McCain. The whole Supreme Court Justice issue makes me want to stay voting Republican. I will no matter what if Hillary wins, but Obama just feels revolutionary. Could it be more pro-life to vote Obama than McCain when you add up everything related to life? Not just abortion, but war, death penalty, helping poverty issues, gun control, etc.

one major difference is that those people either volunteered to be in the military and fight for our country or committed a major crime of murder, rape, etc.
an unborn baby has no decision in the process. they are not in the process of defending our country/freedom, nor have they committed a violent disgusting crime. i put killing a baby on a different level than war or capital punishment.
what do you think?

yeah, I definitely do too. I also know that the innocent victim casualties in war are really high - nowhere near the abortion numbers, but high. There are also deaths related to ignoring poverty issues and environmental issues, gun control law issues, etc. Again, this post was a "think out loud" kind of post.

you said something that i feel is key to this issue- "...but Obama just feels revolutionary".
unfortunately i think that's what lots of people fell about voting for him- they want revolution and change SO badly, they'll even vote for the wrong person because of how his speeches make them FEEL.
it reminds me of that quote in that movie: "in the absence of genuine leadership, they'll listen to anyone who steps up to the microphone. They want leadership. They're so thirsty for it they'll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there's no water, they'll drink the sand." to which he (the President)responds "People don't drink the sand because they're thirsty, Lewis. They drink the sand because they don't know the difference." (The American President, 1995)

I'm Pro-Life and Pro-Obama.

You really sum it up well with this - "Could it be more pro-life to vote Obama than McCain when you add up everything related to life? Not just abortion, but war, death penalty, helping poverty issues, gun control, etc."

Obama isn't really "Pro-Abortion" in the same way that Hillary is. He just recognizes that it's legal by law. He's personally stated that he thinks abortion is a terrible thing and a horrible decision that a woman would have to make. I wish abortion was never legalized in the first place and is a terrible disgusting act. Unfortunately the previous generation lost the abortion battle or fought harder against it once it was already legalized. Republicans have used the anti-abortion platform for 30+ years making different promises and taking different positions, but there hasn't been any real change. How can John McCain overturn Roe vs. Wade? What can John McCain do differently than all the others before him, even the great Ronald Reagan. John McCain talks a lot about human dignity and sanctity of life and in the next sentence is talking about bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran and still calls Asians "gooks" in private conversations.

You make a very good point about the Supreme Court Justice issue. That's the only way that Roe vs Wade can be overturned and made illegal in this country. John McCain has stated that he will appoint a conservative judge. I just have a hard time believing what he will and won't do. Ultimately it's hard for me to see past him as genuine when he wants to bomb Middle Eastern countries and potentially killing many innocent civilians and calling it "collateral damage", he has no problem staying in Iraq for the next 100+ years and he doesn't think the American people will mind that, 680,000+ Iraqi civilians have already died and 3,800+ American soldiers killed, he has an amnesty plan for illegal immigration, he has no plan to help Africa or rid poverty in America, in his own words doesn't know much about the economy, supports taking away our civil liberties to offer us temporary safety (Patriot Act) and supports "biometric identification" for all Americans – he even said this during the debate on CNN at the Reagan Library. No one is talking about it. You know scripture better than I do, so I'm sure you know what those ID cards are a step towards. Scary stuff.

This might be the first time I ever vote for a Democrat.

Thanks for commenting. That is crazy similar. Grace’s middle name is Isabella. When she was little we would sometimes call her Ella as a nickname. How funny.
